David Binns
David Binns has practised from St. James's Chambers since
1984. His practice comprises all aspects of personal injury, particularly road traffic, disciplinary hearings and before the Traffic Commissioners,, matrimonial and employment cases.
He has developed a specialist childcare and family practice and
has published articles in [2004] Fam Law 359 and [2006] IFL 59 on the UK-Pakistan
Judicial Protocol on Child Contact and Abduction
Since 2003 he has appeared frequently before the High Court in "protocol" hearings and in contested divorce proceedings concerning complex EC regulations, dealing with competing applications in different EU countries, known as "Brussels II". Also in 2003 his client, with profound hearing loss, was accused of serious sexual assault upon a child during contact, based upon video taped interviews which were successfully challenged.
In 2005 in a complex cohabitation property dispute, he enabled his client to resolve the case by successful use of ADR procedures. In 2006 he was instructed to provide specialist representation in a large scale road traffic fraud trial.
He is an experienced speaker and
regularly presents CPD accredited professional development courses. He represented the successful Appellant in a costs appeal, reported at [2008] C.L. Oct 42.
During 2008 he also appeared in an important case concerning the new Part 36 CPR.
David was appointed as Legal Assessor to the Health Professions Council in June 2010. |
